This 2nd Annual Memorial Lecture will be given by teacher and author Robin Walker of 'When We Ruled' fame. Robin was commissoned to teach from his popular book during the Trust's Leeds Bi-Centenary Transformation Project (LBCTP) 2007-9, enjoying deligent and devoted students and a large following across West Yorkshire. His many erudite books, papers and lectures on Black History and his cool calm delivery makes him a great favourite among Black History professionals and fans alike. The annual lectures memorialise the late Dr Carl Hylton; a freelance researcher, social justice activist and Executive Chairperson of Leeds West Indian Centre Charitable Trust 2007-2017. Last year's (2017) inaugural lectures featured Public Health Professor Dr Bertha Ochieng who spoke on 'Black Health', and Oxford author Mr FE Smith who gave a lecture on 'Black Legacies'.
